“People will forget what you say, they will forget what you did, but they will never forget how you made them feel.” Maya Angelou

This is one of our favorite quotes and a basis for how we choose to live our lives and run our business. We strive to make each guest feel welcome, seen and loved.

This stems from our belief that all have been made in the image of a Creator. All reflect and carry that image, so all are worthy of being seen, loved and honored as image bearers of the eternal.

It extends to not only our own family and our guests, but to all those who we come into contact with in our ethnically, racially and economically diverse neighborhood.

These values also influence many of our other life choices as well and here is how this will affect you if you choose to stay with us.

Local and Organic Food

We love all of the amazing farms that surround the City of Utica. Our eggs are delivered weekly by Kate and Mark Worden of Wormont Woolies farm. These are eggs from “pastured” chickens, which means they spend most of their time outside scratching around in the dirt, in the sun and expressing their true “chickeness” as Joel Salatin likes to say. Why should this be important to you? Happy chickens lay healthier, more delicious, nutritious eggs!! So many times when a guest compliments the flavor of one of our egg dishes, we let them know that it all starts with better tasting eggs in the first place.

Another loved supplier is Regional Access, a small-scale upstate NY food distributor. Besides amazing meats, cheeses, dairy as well as fruits and vegetables, Regional Access works with small family farms and food purveyors from around the world. In this way, we are able to get olive oil from Spain and cheeses from France. Most of what we purchase and serve comes from farms in NY state.

Our summers would not be the same without fruits and vegetables from Kingfisher Farms. Jason Townsend and his crew have done a fantastic job cultivating organic apples, raspberries, red currants, blackberries and too many vegetables to name. We enjoy heading out to the farm weekly to gather whatever is in season and ripening at that time. Many of those items find their way onto our breakfast menu. Currant Lemon muffins, using our own signature muffin mix, are always a hit with our summer guests.

Unscented Laundry and Cleaning Products

For the health of the environment as well as the comfort and safety of our guests, all of our cleaning products are unscented.

Natural Lawn and landscaping

All lawn care and gardening products are natural and harmful-chemical free.

We do not use any herbicides or pesticides on any of our lawn or landscape.

Although these are our ideals and what we continually strive to achieve, we do not have a 100% success rate. Please let us know if there is something that you require that we can provide for you that would improve your experience staying at the Rosemont Inn B&B.
